Riverside Medical Center Swing Bed Program

What is Swing Bed?

Sometimes a patient has improved to the point of no longer needing acute inpatient hospital care, but may not be well or strong enough to return home. For these patients, Riverside Medical Center offers a comforting alternative. Swing Bed is a Medicare based program to provide extended care to those needing additional time following an acute injury, illness, or surgery. The term SWING means that the hospital may change the room status from acute care to skilled care. Swing Bed, a transitional rehabilitation program, is designed to provide patients with individualized, in-hospital care through a combination of focused rehabilitative therapies, attentive 24-hour skilled nursing care, and medical supervision. During their stay in our Swing Bed program, patients gain the strength, functionality, balance, and range of motion they need to care for themselves with confidence. Riverside’s Swing Bed program ensures recovery close to home.
