Chief Executive Officer - Administration
Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton, LA is seeking an experienced hospital leader for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Riverside Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) providing inpatient and outpatient healthcare ranging from primary care to emergency services. Riverside is located in Washington Parish, approximately seventy (70) miles north of New Orleans and eighty (80) miles east of Baton Rouge.
The successful candidate should be an assertive strategic thinker who exhibits high moral integrity, strong communication skills, superior financial management, and innovative leadership skills. The primary responsibilities of the CEO will be to provide direction and administration of all aspects of hospital activities to assure quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate should possess at least a master’s degree and at least five years of full-time healthcare executive management experience or a baccalaureate degree and at least ten years of full-time healthcare executive management experience. Hospital Chief Executive Officer experience is preferred. This candidate must exhibit the ability to interact with physicians, hospital staff, and the community as well as have a strong understanding of strategic planning, team building, quality improvement, problem-solving, and decision-making. Experience with critical access hospitals (CAH), hospital service district (HSD) facilities, and primary care/Rural Health Clinics is preferred. Working knowledge of EMR Systems with Cerner is a plus.
In addition to those duties specifically assigned by the Hospital Bylaws, the CEO is responsible for the following:
• Participates in the development of the planning process that produces acceptable strategic and operational plans and budgets for Riverside Medical Center.
• Recommends for approval to the Board of Commissioners the organizational structure of each division and department within Riverside Medical Center.
• Provides for the development and recruitment of Assistant Administrators and department-level managers.
• Maintains a high level of morale and effort among Riverside Medical Center employees.
• Establishes, approves, or maintains hospital-wide policies, procedures, and employee benefit programs.
• Provides a system of control that clearly identifies deviations from plans and assures the periodic comparison of performance and/or results against established standards and/or objectives. Ensures corrective actions on deviations from plans so that total results are in line with total objectives.
• Provides regular reports and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on matters requiring their attention and action.
• Ensures programs exist for service improvement and development.
• Maintains excellent relations with the Medical Staff.
• Provides for communication, as needed with the Parish Council and all external communities and organizations in which Riverside Medical Center is involved.
• Ensures, through the Medical Staff, a high level of quality patient care. Negotiates physician and service contracts for submission to and approval of the Board of Commissioners.
• Informs and advises the Board regarding current trends, problems, and activities in health care to facilitate policy making.
• Coordinates the long-range fund-raising activities of the institution.
• Serves as liaison and channel of communication between the Board and any of its committees and medical/dental staff and assists with organizational and medical administrative problems and responsibilities. Represents the hospital in its relationship with other health agencies, organizations, groups, government agencies, and third-party payers.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.
